Descubrimientos PHE is the Festival's portfolio review and a great launching platform for new talents in international photography.
As a novelty this year, a show of the works of the 60 finalists will be held during the Festival. The author of the best portfolio will have an exhibition in PHE07.
Participating works may not contain more than 15 images. The portfolios can be submitted to the contest from February 20 until April 28.

PHotoEspaña 2006 starts up by convening Descubrimientos PHE, an activity designed to promote young talents in photography and offer them the advice of twenty international photography experts.
This year the goals for Descubrimientos PHE are more international and take on greater importance within PHotoEspaña. Well-known experts will be present such as Alison Nordström, curator at the George Eastman House (New York); Ute Noll, photography editor of the Frankfurter Rundschau newspaper (Frankfurt am Main); and Chris Boot, director of Chris Boot Publishers (London).
Descubrimientos PHE has served as a catalyst for young photographers since its first edition. Artists from all over the world have shown their work to the most prestigious professionals from cultural institutions, magazines and publishing houses all over the world. The last edition had a participation of nearly 500 portfolios from more than 20 countries.

Innovations and Prizes
This year, for the first time, a large exhibition comprising approximately 200 images of the work of the 60 finalists will be organised during the Festival. These photographs will also be shown, as during previous editions, in the Santa Ana Projections.
The winner of the portfolio review will receive the Descubrimientos Prize for the Best Portfolio, which is a solo exhibition in PHE07.

Portfolio Submission
The portfolio review is an activity addressed to young photographers and it seeks to facilitate development of their professional careers through the recommendations, critique and assistance of some twenty professionals from the photography world including exhibition curators, museums, gallery and art centre directors, editors of specialised publications, directors of prestigious photography festivals and representatives of institutions linked to the photographic medium.
Portfolios submitted should contain a photographic project on any subject and a maximum of fifteen 30x40 cm photographs. The submission period ends on 28 April 2006.
