“The Festival’s goal is to present the current wealth and variety of representations of nature. From an aesthetic viewpoint, nature is a theme characteristic of artistic observation and particularly landscapes, which have had an impact both on painting in the nineteenth century and the installations and land art of the twentieth century. Through works by various visual artists, the festival will examine the survival of this genre and its potential interest, which is not limited to proposals designed strictly for contemplation. In addition to being an aesthetic object, nature is also a theme that is represented and studied in its relationship to the present and, in a more general fashion, as a contrast and perhaps even a contradiction to culture and civilisation. Aspects pertaining to nature in our era (environmental equilibrium, sustainability, etc.) are other subjects of this festival, which, as in the two previous editions, Histories and The City, will not shirk possible political interpretations. The third interpretive section will be more general, more philosophical or essayistic: nature’s own characterisation and its relationships with technology and culture.
