The Nanjing Massacre of December
1937 will always stand as one of the most terrible events in history
of warfare. Evidence of rape and sadistic killing was often
unwittingly provided by the Japanese participants themselves from
their own 'souvenir' photographs. Here Japanese troops lounge with
their hands in their pockets or look away in boredom, as their
comrades prepare to bury Nanjing Chinese captives alive.
